Former Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) prime minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas on Thursday joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), bringing with him several prominent political figures from the region in a move expected to bolster the party’s footprint in Azad Kashmir.
The decision was announced after a meeting between Sardar Tanveer Ilyas and IPP President Abdul Aleem Khan, during which the former AJK premier formally declared his affiliation with the party.
Among those joining the IPP were AJK Minister for Agriculture Chaudhry Ali Shan Soni, former health minister Ansar Abdali, and former adviser to the AJK prime minister Sardar Iftikhar Rashid.
Welcoming the new entrants, Abdul Aleem Khan said the party was delighted to have Sardar Tanveer Ilyas and his associates on board. He expressed confidence that their induction would reinforce the IPP’s organisational strength and political influence across Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
