Pakistani security forces have rescued 11 police personnel who were abducted by militants following an attack on a police checkpoint in Balochistan’s Ziarat district, while efforts are continuing to recover 15 others who remain missing, officials said.
According to a report today, Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and police launched a joint rescue operation after the assault, during which officials said 15 militants belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan were killed and several others were wounded.
The rescue operation followed a deadly attack on a police checkpoint in the Kach Mangi Phase III area of Ziarat district, where heavily armed militants launched an assault, according to the district’s Superintendent of Police.
The attack resulted in the deaths of nine police personnel, including two station house officers (SHOs), who officials said were killed while offering fierce resistance against the attackers.
Funeral prayers for the fallen officers have been offered as security forces continue operations in the area to locate and recover the remaining missing policemen.
