Agreement to Enhance Police Training and Mutual Cooperation Against Drug Trafficking Between Pakistan and Sri Lanka

Pakistan and Sri Lanka have reached a significant agreement to enhance cooperation in police training and strengthen efforts against drug trafficking, as decided during a crucial meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Sri Lanka’s Ananda Wijeypala today at the United Nations Headquarters.

In addition to focusing on police training, both countries have committed to tackling illegal immigration and the use of fake passports. These issues are significant challenges, and this joint effort is an important step towards addressing them.

The leaders also considered a memorandum of understanding to dismantle criminal networks and curb money laundering activities. This MOU is expected to provide a foundation for strengthening the legal and practical framework between the two countries.

To further solidify their partnership, an agreement was reached to form a joint working group that will assist in enhancing cooperation between the Interior Ministries of Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This group will work on implementing the agreed-upon plans and ensuring continuous dialogue between the two countries.

The discussions highlighted the priority of resolving visa-related complexities, which are creating obstacles to travel and communication between the two countries. Resolving these issues is expected to promote smoother interactions and exchanges.

This meeting not only signifies the commitment to strengthening bilateral relations but also indicates a contribution to regional stability and security through collaborative efforts in law enforcement and border management.
