Successful operation by Jacobabad Police with the assistance of intelligence agency in Khairpur, international smuggler of antiquities arrested

In a significant operation against smuggling activities, Jacobabad police today, with the help of a federal intelligence agency, arrested an alleged international and inter-provincial smuggler involved in the illegal trade of valuable antiquities.

Acting on credible information, authorities successfully intercepted Syed Lal Shah, a resident of Naushahro Ghandawa in district Jhal Magsi, Balochistan. The arrest took place on Mamlook Link Road, where illegal weapons and crucial evidence were seized from the suspect.

During the initial investigation, the detainee allegedly confessed to being part of a network involved in identifying, stealing, and smuggling valuable antiquities from historical sites across Pakistan. He allegedly revealed plans to target exhibited antiquities in Mohenjo-daro with the help of local accomplices, intending to transport the stolen items abroad via Balochistan.

Preliminary findings suggest that the accused is linked to an organized international smuggling syndicate specializing in the export of rare historical artifacts from Pakistan. The gathered evidence has accelerated efforts to dismantle this network, and law enforcement agencies are pursuing accomplices and supporters involved in this illegal trade.

This operation is a significant step in safeguarding Pakistan’s cultural heritage and curbing the illegal antiquities market.
