Jhang court sentences attempted murder convict to 14 years imprisonment and fine

The local court today sentenced Alam Sher to 14 years imprisonment and a fine in a case of attempted murder and causing disability.

In September 2023, Alam Sher was accused of shooting and severely injuring Muhammad Ramzan in the Mochiwala area, which resulted in the victim’s leg being amputated. Mochiwala police immediately filed charges of attempted murder and related crimes against the accused.

Using strong evidence and witness statements, Civil Judge and Magistrate Muhammad Shakeel Ashraf announced a harsh sentence. Alam Sher was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined 100,000 rupees for the charge of attempted murder. In case of non-payment of the fine, an additional three months of imprisonment will be imposed.

For the crime of causing disability, which resulted in the leg amputation, the court sentenced an additional seven years of imprisonment and ordered compensation of 3,378,951 rupees to the victim. Furthermore, the court ordered an additional compensation of 50,000 rupees.

Renowned lawyer Sheikh Hameed Abdullah Advocate led the prosecution. The court emphasized that delivering justice for such heinous crimes is extremely important for societal peace and security, and the protection of human life and property.
