The accused nominated in the murder of female doctor Warda Mushtaq were produced by the police in the anti-terrorism court on Tuesday and a three-day remand was obtained.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies produced three individuals nominated in the case before the anti-terrorism court. The accused, identified as Dr. Warda’s friend Rida wife of Waheed, Nadeem son of Aurangzeb, and Pervez son of Ayub, have been remanded to police custody for three days for investigation.
Despite these initial arrests, authorities have confirmed that the main accused in the murder investigation, identified as Shamraiz, has evaded capture and remains at large.
Health services across the province, including Abbottabad, were suspended on Tuesday as doctors went on a strike to protest the murder of Dr. Warda Mushtaq. The strike has affected emergency and outpatient department (OPD) services, putting a severe strain on the regional medical system.
The call for this comprehensive boycott was made by the Provincial Doctors Association, with medical professionals from institutions like Benazir Shaheed Teaching Hospital abandoning their duties. Association leaders, including Hazara President Dr. Zia Qamar and Dr. Iram Siddique, addressed the media, stating that the action was necessary to demand immediate justice for their slain colleague. They announced that a prayer camp would be set up on the DHQ premises and warned that they would adopt a more stringent course of action if the administration and police did not address their demands.
