Algeria has extended a compelling investment package to Karachi”s business community, offering significant incentives including free land, electricity, and internet connectivity, coupled with symbolic energy prices, in a bid to attract Pakistani capital.
The invitation was formally presented by the Ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Brahim Romani, during his address as Chief Guest at a recent meeting at the S.I.T.E. Association of Industry (SAI), according to the association information today.
Positioning his nation as a gateway to Africa, the envoy detailed a long-term investment policy featuring a one-window operation for streamlined processing and fast-track visa facilitation for new investors. Ambassador Romani also highlighted that healthcare facilities are provided free of charge in the country.
In a direct appeal to the industrialists, the Ambassador extended an invitation for them to participate in an upcoming industrial exhibition scheduled to be held in Algeria this December.
In response, SAI President Ahmed Azeem Alvi welcomed the Algerian diplomat and announced plans to organize a business delegation to attend the forthcoming exhibition. Alvi also requested the Ambassador to provide a sector-specific list to better identify potential areas for collaboration.
Discussions during the meeting also explored opportunities for enhancing bilateral trade across various sectors, including textiles, leather goods, vaccines, solar energy, phosphates, surgical instruments, IT products, food items, and the exploration of iron reserves.
The Algerian Ambassador was accompanied by Syed Zaigham Hussain. The meeting was also attended by prominent SAI members including Vice President Muhammad Riaz Dhedhi, Former President Abdul Rasheed, Former SVP Abdul Kadir Bilwani, EC Member Muhammad Kamran Lakhany, and Zahid Hussain.
