Another shop looted in Naundero as crime goes out of control

NAUNDERO:Thefts have become common here as thieves again stole Rs100,000 cash, cigarette cartons and other valuables from a shop along the city’s Eid Gah Road in the wee hours of Monday.

Nizamudding Junejo said that when he opened his shop in the morning he found locks of his counter broken and then he came to know that thieves had deprived him of cash, cigarettes and other material. He said it was the second time in a year that his shop had been looted.

The local cops were informed but they failed to any recovery as usual. Yesterday thieves broke locks of landlord Nazir Abro’s house and stole about one kg gold, dowry and other valuables worth Rs10.5 million. The police have so far failed either to recover the stolen goods or arrest the criminals.

Before this incident, 10 tola gold, Rs100,000 cash and other costly goods were stolen from the house of tailor master Zulfiqar Channa which is yet to be recovered. But cops acted swiftly when buffalo of an influential person belonging to the ruling party was stolen which was recovered within two days.

After these incidents shopkeepers Nizamuddin Junejo, Muzaffar Shah, Ghaffar Khuhro and others held a meeting on prevailing law and order situation in this town. They said that the fundamental duty of police is to protect the life and property of the citizens but they have miserably failed in carrying out their legal duties and have also lost their writ. They alleged it seems that criminals are more powerful than cops.

They said cops posted in Benazir Bhutto’s hometown have strong political backing and support, hence, peace will never be maintained here till they are taken to task. They said bike theft has also become common but policemen are busy with corruption.

Social welfare activists Syed Sikander Ali Shah Rashdi, Hussain Bux Narejo, Abdul Latif Kertio, Javed Bhutto, Sahab Khan Shaikh and others had demand action against police for not recover in the theft goods and cash.
