Austerity drive at Governor House, unnecessary lights turned off: Nehal Hashmi

Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi also mentioned the ongoing austerity campaign at the Governor’s House, stating that under this initiative, unnecessary lights are being kept off at the Governor House.

He further said that literature and poetry are a powerful means of connecting people, transcending geographical and political boundaries. According to a press release issued today, he expressed these views while addressing as the chief guest at an international Mushaira for world peace at the Expo Center Karachi.

The Governor described the event, organized under the auspices of Sakinan-e-Shahr-e-Quaid, as extremely important for the promotion of literature and culture. He affirmed that the Governor House, which he termed the people’s house, will continue to provide all possible support for the promotion of literary activities.

Upon arrival, Governor Hashmi was warmly welcomed by the chief organizer of the Mushaira, Mahmood Ahmed Khan. The prestigious event was patronized by eminent literary figure Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui and presided over by renowned poet Iftikhar Arif.

The gathering featured a galaxy of renowned poets from the country and abroad, including Anwar Shaoor, Mehmood Sham, Madad Ali Sindhi, Nusrat Siddiqui, Abbas Tabish, Shakeel Jazib, Javed Saba, Sohail Ahmed, Khalid Irfan, Wasi Shah, Ahmed Salman, Nasira Zuberi, Fazil Jameeli, Dr. Noor Amrohi, Noreen Talat, and Irene Farhat, among others.

This splendid literary evening, reflecting the rich cultural traditions of the City of Quaid, continued late into the night, captivating a deeply engaged audience who responded with great appreciation. The proceedings were compered by Mansoor Sahir, Daniyal Ismail, Nazia Ghaus, and Dr. Ambreen Habib Amber.
