Authorities Vow Zero Tolerance for New Year’s Eve Lawlessness

Authorities today declared a strict crackdown on hooliganism, aerial firing, and dangerous driving, promising robust legal action against any lawbreakers during New Year’s Eve celebrations in the capital.

Following special directions from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, a comprehensive security plan has been put into effect, deploying a contingent of over 3,500 police officers and 350 traffic officials to ensure public safety.

The security arrangement is reinforced by special security teams and a Quick Response Force stationed across the city. Surveillance will be intensified city-wide through the use of Safe City cameras and drone technology to monitor for any suspicious elements and maintain order.

In a high-level meeting chaired by SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, and CTO Islamabad, Capt. (retd.) Hamzah Humayun, officers were instructed to conduct rigorous checks at all entry and exit points, as well as within the city.

SSP Operations reiterated that there will be a zero-tolerance policy for fireworks, wheelie riding, skating, and harassment. Extra police personnel have been assigned to key locations, commercial centres, and markets to prevent any untoward incidents.

To manage vehicular movement, CTO Islamabad confirmed the formation of special traffic teams. These squads will work in coordination with the operational police to ensure a smooth flow of traffic and respond to any disruptions.

The IGP also appealed to parents to prevent their children from engaging in unlawful activities. He advised all residents to celebrate responsibly and within legal boundaries, proving themselves to be civilised members of society.

The Islamabad Police stated that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remains its highest priority and encouraged the public to embrace the New Year in a peaceful and safe environment.
