The Central Committee of Awami Tehreek, in a meeting chaired by Central President Advocate Vasand Thari, strongly condemned the Sindh government’s filing of false cases against local individuals involved in the Baberlo sit-in and doctors who set up medical camps.

The committee also declared its opposition to the Council of Common Interests (CCI), labeling it as a tool of Punjab and rejecting its current structure until it is reformed to ensure equal representation for all provinces.

The meeting, held at Palejo House in Qasimabad, Hyderabad, was convened to deliberate on the prevailing national, international, and Sindh political situation. Advocate Thari and other party leaders emphasized that the people of Sindh would not accept decisions from the CCI unless it is restructured with the consensus of all provinces. The Awami Tehreek views the CCI’s decisions as disproportionately benefiting Punjab, undermining Sindh’s rights and interests.

The party leaders also accused Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of deceiving the people of Sindh by failing to protect local interests. In particular, the committee pointed to plans to exploit Sindh’s resources, including canals and corporate farming, as evidence of ongoing neglect by the provincial and federal governments.

‘Until the CCI is restructured to reflect the true spirit of federalism, we will continue to oppose its decisions,’ said Advocate Vasand Thari, underscoring the party’s firm stance on equal provincial representation. The committee further criticized the Sindh government for its perceived subservience to the federal government, accusing provincial leaders of prioritizing power over the welfare of the people.

The meeting was attended by other key figures of the Awami Tehreek, including Central General Advocate Sajid Hussain Mahesar, Noor Ahmed Katpar, and Abdul Qadir Ranto.

Looking ahead, the Awami Tehreek has vowed to intensify its struggle against what it perceives as the exploitation of Sindh’s resources and continued misrepresentation at both provincial and federal levels. The party also reiterated its commitment to mobilizing public support for reforming the CCI and ensuring fair distribution of resources across the provinces.
