Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq pledged to implement measures for the welfare and facilitation of overseas Pakistanis, focusing on protecting their land rights.
Addressing the inaugural Overseas Pakistanis Convention in Islamabad, he stressed the need for severe penalties against land grabbers targeting expatriates. He highlighted that legislation could be formulated post-consultation with relevant ministries and provincial governments.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq pointed out the vital role overseas Pakistanis play as ambassadors of the country and their achievements across various fields. He noted the significant impact of remittances on Pakistan’s economy and advocated for the development of online platforms to eliminate the necessity for expatriates to visit embassies.
Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain, speaking at the convention, lauded the contributions of overseas Pakistanis to the economy. He revealed that expatriates had sent a record remittance of 4.1 billion dollars in a single month. Pakistan’s envoys from various countries also participated in the event, addressing the attendees.
