Fears of epidemic outbreaks have increased due to the dire sanitation situation in Badin, with a Jamaat-e-Islami leader citing the complete failure of municipal authorities despite a hefty budget of approximately two crore rupees.
Jamaat-e-Islami Badin District Vice Ameer Allah Bachayo Halepoto said in a statement today that the city and its suburban areas are plagued by growing problems of filth and a poor drainage system.
He stated that in most areas, stagnant dirty sewerage water on roads, streets, and pathways has become a daily routine. This has led to a significant increase in mosquito breeding, raising public concern over the risk of various diseases spreading.
According to Halepoto, who is also the president of the Public Aid Committee of Badin district, the municipal committee administration has completely failed to maintain cleanliness. He pointed out that piles of garbage are present in all fourteen wards of the city, causing severe difficulties for the citizens.
He stressed that the chairman of the Badin Municipal Committee and his team have failed to improve the sanitation infrastructure, which has also raised questions about the transparent use of the government budget allocated for these services.
Halepoto demanded that the Chairman of the Municipal Committee and the CMO immediately establish an effective sanitation system and launch a comprehensive mosquito-killing spray campaign to protect the health of the city’s residents.
