Balochistan Braces for Extreme Heat, Varied Precipitation Expected

The Meteorological Department Quetta Regional Centre issued a weather warning today, indicating that very hot weather is likely during daytime across most plain areas of the province. Citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures during any outdoor activities conducted between 10:00 AM and 03:00 PM, a directive applicable for both today and tomorrow.

The synoptic situation, as communicated by the weather office, reveals that continental air is currently prevailing over most parts of Balochistan. Furthermore, a shallow westerly trough is anticipated to affect the northern districts of the province.

For today and tomorrow, the Meteorological Department forecasts hot and dry conditions across the majority of the province”s districts. However, northern and western regions, including Quetta, Zhob, Qilla Abdullah, Pishin, Qillah Saifullah, Chaman, Kalat, Ziarat, Loralai, Barkhan, Dera Bugti, and Khuzdar, are likely to experience partly cloudy skies with chances of isolated light to moderate rain, wind, and thunderstorms. Occasionally strong winds are also expected in various localities over the next 24 hours.

Looking ahead to the next 48 hours, hot and dry weather is projected to persist in most provincial districts. Northern and eastern areas, specifically Zhob, Loralai, Barkhan, Musakhel, Kohlu, and Dera Bugti, may see partly cloudy conditions with a possibility of light precipitation in a few locations. Periodically strong winds are also anticipated in some parts of the province during this 48-hour period.

In the preceding 24 hours, Sariab recorded a trace amount of rainfall. Minimum temperatures across the region varied, with Kalat registering the lowest at 13.0°C. Other notable minimums included Quetta City at 16.5°C, Quetta RMC at 17.0°C, Sariab at 17.0°C, Zhob at 18.0°C, Samungli at 19.0°C, Khuzdar at 21.0°C, Ormara and Panjgur at 23.0°C, Lasbella at 23.5°C, Gwadar and Jiwani at 24.0°C, Uthal at 24.5°C, Barkhan and Dalbandin at 25.0°C, Pasni at 25.5°C, Sibbi at 27.5°C, Usta Muhammad at 28.0°C, and Nokkundi and Turbat both at 28.5°C.
