QUETTA: Faculty members and employees of the University of Balochistan on Monday blocked Sariab Road for all kind of traffic, demanding from the authorities to ensure the payment of two months withheld salaries and allowances.

According to detail, faculty members and staff of the University of Balochistan blocked Sariab Road in front of the University of Balochistan against non-payment of salaries and allowances. Talking to media, including PPI, protesters said that faculty members and employees of the university had been deprived of their monthly salaries and allowances for the last two months, adding that an amount of Rs. 03 million was available with the university for executing different projects and construction of buildings, but on the other hand, funds were not available for payment of salaries to the faculty members and employees.

They said that three Research Centres of the university were confronting severe financial crises which could be judged from the fact that faculty members and employees of those research centres could not be paid monthly salaries and allowances owing to non-availability of funds. They said that the only solution to overcome the administrative and financial crises of the university was to get Vice Chancellor, University of Balochistan transferred.
