Lahore, June 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) in its executive committee meeting on Wednesday reviewed the budget 2022-23 at PCJCCI Secretariat. The meeting was attended by Mr. Wang Zihai, President PCJCCI, Mr. Ehsan Choudhry, Senior Vice President PCJCCI, Mr. Sarfaraz Butt, Vice President PCJCCI and Mr. Salahuddin Hanif, Secretary General PCJCCI. Mr Wang Zihai, President PCJCCI stated that Pakistan is suffering from both political and economic turmoil but we should praise the government that it did its best by providing an orderly rebalancing between imperatives of economic growth.
Mr. Ehsan Choudhry, Senior Vice President PCJCCI shared his views by saying that under the annual plan in agriculture sector, the govt will be introducing special programmes to minimize conveyance losses and system modernization which will be continued along with other storage and conservation measures. During this period, out of total 91 ongoing water sector projects, about 15 are expected to be completed. He further added that, another great initiative the government has taken is the removal of tax upon seeds. They have also allocated Rs90.6 billion for education sector which will definitely add value and quality to our country.
Mr. Sarfaraz Butt, Vice President PCJCCI commented that through this budget plan, the government is going to introduce fixed tax scheme for the traders that should be discussed with the stakeholders. He said that the indirect tax would go up and incentives should be given for SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises), export-oriented industry, and scheme should also be announced for import substitution.
Mr. Salahuddin Hanif, Secretary General PCJCCI appreciated the government that their priority is to enable the economy to work at its full potential to provide a better living for the people, better infrastructure, particularly in backward areas, uninterrupted and affordable energy, quality education and health for every citizen. He added that the budget is focusing on the development of less-developed special areas; the annual plan focuses on timely achievement of development targets through major chunk of allocation for completion of ongoing schemes.
