Business and Finance – Pakistan and China Deepen Strategic Partnership in Energy and Mining Sectors

Pakistan and China are set to broaden their economic partnership into the strategic petroleum and minerals sectors, a move underscored by the planned Siah Diq project, which officials herald as the next significant milestone in bilateral mineral cooperation.

According to a statement today, the development was confirmed by Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik while he was addressing a special ceremony held at the Chinese Embassy to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Mr Malik noted that building on the success of the established Saindak project, the Siah Diq initiative would mark a new chapter in the nations” joint ventures. He also mentioned that several collaborative projects are currently underway between the two countries in the minerals industry.

During the event, the minister extended heartfelt congratulations to the Chinese leadership and people on the occasion. He remarked that the Year of the Horse reflects the strength, resilience, and enduring nature of the friendship between Pakistan and China.

Echoing the sentiment of expanding collaboration, the Chinese Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continuing close cooperation with Pakistan across various fields, with a specific emphasis on the energy and minerals sectors.
