Father of four commits suicide over unemployment

JACOBABAD:A man, the father of four children, committed suicide over unemployment caused by lockdown within limits of Saddar police station near Jacobabad on Monday.

A young man, Abdul Gaffar Lashari, after being dejected over non-provision of livelihood due to continuous lockdown, committed suicide by shooting himself with a gun in village Suhno Khan Lashari.

The body was shifted to the civil hospital for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to his heirs.

Man kills wife on pretext of Karo-kari

GHOTKI:A man killed his wife on the pretext of Karo-kari in Sarhad town in the wee hours of Monday.

Accused Mir Machhi shot dead his wife Zameeran Machhi on the pretext of Karo-kari in village Jam Mohammad Ali Lakhan near Sarhad town and fled to an unknown destination after swift operation.

The body was shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to the heirs. The police have started raids for arrest of the fleeing accused. The investigation into the case was underway, the police said.

Gambat’s laborers community affected by lockdown

Gambat:A complete lockdown was observed in Gambat on Monday in response to the Sindh government call to fight the coronavirus. The laborers community is facing trouble due to lockdown and poverty, while many people are still awaiting government aid.

All bazaars and markets remained closed in the town as per government order. The citizens operating cloth and other shops in markets faced problems in earning livelihood as only retail shops in the town were opened to provide necessary daily use items to the citizens.

Police conducted patrolling and checked the bazzar. A low number of motorcycles, cars and other vehicles were seen plying the roads for necessary works. The hospitals and medical stores however remained open to cater to the needs to patients.

The poor people need urgent relief goods, including ration, to feed their children. A large public gatherings, weddings and congregations, conferences and other events have also been closed in the town.

Partial lockdown in Larkana as many poor still deprived of relief

LARKANA:A partial lockdown was observed in Larkana district as many people continued ignoring social distancing and wearing face masks on Monday.

Police were seen deployed at various points in Larkana when this Scribe visited some areas today. They police had erected barriers, but many people were seen travelling on their bikes without masks. Many citizens have taken the corona Virus pandemic very lightly as they do not believe in such fatal viral disease, many residents complained. Villages and remote areas are yet another example from where people are randomly allowed to come to towns for shopping groceries etc.

On the other hand, members of Auto and Garage Labour Association held a protest demonstration in front of local press club. They demanded relief goods. Zulfiqar Khuhro, Khalil Brohi, Amin Qadri, Ali Hasan Kaheri, Gohar Umrani, Mithal, Arbelo Oad, Muslim Sangi and others said that they had passed 22 days in lockdown without earning anything as shops were not allowed to open and they had nothing to eat now.

They said: “Our family members are facing hunger because we are daily wagers. They alleged that ration had been distributed on favouritism basis ignoring the poor people. They further alleged that they even went to the doors of elected representatives but nothing had yet been done for them. They demanded ration and relief package.

17 samples of Larkana’s suspected COVID-19 people sent to Karachi for test

LARKANA:As many as 17 samples of suspected COVID-19 people, including three children, were sent to a private laboratory of Karachi from Larkana, report of which is expected within next 24 hours.

The team which obtained the samples include Dr Hifaz Abro and Dr Sadam Kalhoro of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU), Dr Ayaz Memon and Dr Farman Abro of District Health Office. These samples include eight of those patients who were quarantined at SMBBMU Areeja Campus centre and nine samples of the family members of a government official who was earlier tested positive that include his three children

Sources further disclosed that samples of over 300 members of Tabligi Jamaat will also be obtained on Tuesday who have been isolated since 28th March at Madani Masjid and they belong to KP and Punjab. Another relevant sources claimed that their three time food supply arrangements are being made daily by their other members who are locals since last 15 days and district administration has forgotten them in this connection despite availability of required funds.

So far 16 positive cases have been detected in Larkana which include a man who was again tested positive even after passing 14 days mandatory quarantine period which he spent. Three people have been isolated at the Isolation Ward of the Chandka Medical College Hospital where they are receiving medical treatment as well.

Info minister says Sindh govt slowing virus spread

LARKANA:Sindh Minister for Information Syed Nasir Hussain Shah on Sunday said that at this moment, the focus of the Sindh government was to slow down the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) to save lives.

He said in a statement that the Sindh government was better preparing its health system and putting all the necessary measures in place to protect the lives of the people. Shah said that practicing good hygiene, and keeping a healthy physical distance between individuals was our most powerful weapon in fighting Coronavirus and saving people lives.

SSP Larkana takes action against cops

LARKANA:SSP Larkana Masood Ahmed Bangash has taken stern disciplinary action against eight police officers for negligence in performing in government duty Sunday and awarded them different punishments. They included Inspector Aftab Ahmed Mangi, Sub Inspectors Sikandar Ali Chandio, Ali Dino Jatoi, and Ghulam Hyder Behan. All of them have been reverted and suspended from service.

Whereas two year increments of four constables Sadam Hussain, Khalid Hussain, Liaquat Ali and Gulzar Ali have been withheld. Meanwhile, SHO Akil police station @ Pir Sher Inspector Azhar Hussain Mangi, claimed that he has arrested accused Ghulam Hyder Shaikh who is involved in Galib Sargani murder case.
