Youth, woman killed under pretext of Karo-Kari

KARAMPUR:A man allegedly killed his wife and his community’s youth under the pretext of Karo-Kari rite near Karampur on Thursday.

Accused Shahbaz Teghani, along with accomplices, murdered his wife Siyani and a neighbourer Ghulam Akbar Teghani under notorious tradition of Karo-Kari in village Mudo Teghani within the limits of Naparkot police station.

The accused fled to unknown destination soon after the incident. The police could not register the case till filing the report. Further investigation was underway.

Pregnant suspected COVID19 woman refused operation

LARKANA:Postgraduate student lady doctors working in Shaikh Zayed Women Hospital refused conducting operation of a pregnant suspected COVID-19 woman patient Waheeda who was brought by her relatives from Naundero on Wednesday

The postgraduate doctors said that the woman had symptoms of cough, fever and asthma. They said on inquiring her history, it was revealed by the patient that she had the same symptoms since last 15 days. They said that they were of the opinion that the patient was suspect case of coronavirus due to visible symptoms but it was yet to be established.

They said they had contacted District Health Officer’s office but team was still awaited. They said they were discharging their duties under emergency but they had not yet been given required safety gadgets and gloves which should be provided to them on priority basis.

Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent, Chandka Medical College Hospital, Dr. Ershad Hussain Kazmi said while talking to this scribe in the evening that he had already sent them Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the AMS of the SZWH told him during the day that the woman was in the OT but no update was available whether she was operated or not.

Complete lockdown observed in Hyderabad to fight coronavirus

HYDERABAD:A complete lockdown was observed in Hyderabad to fight the coronavirus on Wednesday.

All business and social activities remained standstill. Bazaars and markets remained completely closed in the city. Only retail shops were opened till 5pm to provide necessary daily use items to the citizens. Sindh government offices and educational institutes, including private, remained closed. Police and Rangers have been deployed across the city to ensure the lockdown. A low number of motorcycles, cars and other vehicles were seen plying the roads for necessary works. The hospitals and medical stores however remained open to cater to the needs to patients.

The laborers community has badly been affected by the lockdown and they need urgent relief goods, including ration, to feed their children. A large public gatherings, weddings and congregations, conferences and other events have also been banned in the city.

Millions of people have been forced to stay homes across Pakistan following a lockdown to fight coronavirus cases. Streets were deserted, public transport, offices, parks, and other public spots remained closed in all the four provinces today. The government also announced suspension of railway operations across the country besides halting international flights to control the virus.

Man electrocuted near Larkana

LARKANA:A man was electrocuted near Larkana on Wednesday.

A 45-year man, Badaruddin Bhutto, was injured due to electrocution while repairing electricity cables of his home in village Ghulam Bhutto near Larkana. His relatives rushed him to CMCH Casualty for treatment, where duty doctors pronounced him brought dead after examining him.

MENA countries are most generous

MANILA:A WIN World Survey said Wednesday that 24% respondents over the world claim to have made donations to Not-for-Profit organizations / NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) for support for the development of the poorest countries and children aid.

A sample of 29,368 men and women from 40 countries across the globe was asked, “Over the past 12 months, have you made any donation to Not-for-Profit organizations / NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) for support for the development of the poorest countries and children aid?” Only 24% of respondents in participating countries have made donations to support the development of the poorest countries and children aid, while 76% said they have not made any donations.

Countrywide Analysis: Most generous and least generous nations Of the 40 countries surveyed, Australia (72%) and China (62%) have the highest rate of donations to NGOs. In contrast, Ecuador (6%) and South Korea (5%) have the lowest proportion of respondents that have made donations over the past 12 months.

Regional Analysis: MENA countries are the most generous. Regional results show that the highest proportion of respondents from MENA countries have made donations to support the development of the poorest countries and children aid, while African countries have low levels of donations.

Youth tries to commit self-immolation; 90% body burnt

GAMBAT:A youth tried to commit self-immolation over non-availability of ration in the house due to lockdown and poverty in Gambat on Wednesday. His 90% body was burnt.

Shahzaib Saheto, a resident of Pir Mohalla of Gambat, sprayed petrol on his body and set himself on fire over non-availability of ration in the house due to lockdown and poverty. He was rushed to Gambat hospital for treatment where his condition was stated to be serious.

One more COVID-19 case detected in Larkana

LARKANA:One more coronavirus positive case was detected here late last night in Larkana, bringing the number of cases to 14 in Larkana.

One patient was referred earlier to Dow University Hospital, Karachi, and 13 have been kept at Quarantine Centre of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) and Isolation Ward of the Chandka Medical College Hospital.

On Wednesday, samples of 9 positive cases which were detected at the very outset were taken on completion of their 14 days quarantine period. Swabs of 27 family members of another patient were also obtained and sent to Karachi through their local collection centre for analysis.

Meanwhile, SMBBMU Registrar has issued three show cause notices, with the approval of competent authority, to Dr. Abdul Rasheed Shaikh, Senior Lecturer, ET Department, Dr. Jai Kirshan, Associate Professor of Pathology and Dr. Sarfraz Tunio, Lecturer, Department of Pathology, for committing violation of E and D Rules of government employees and serious blunder in the current disastrous situation, the show cause notices added.

They have been directed to show cause within three days of the issuance or strict disciplinary action will be taken against them failing which ex-parte action shall be taken. These doctors allegedly refused to collect samples of suspected cases and their family members despite directions on the pretext of Personal Protective Equipment.
