Three dead over matrimonial dispute in Faisalabad

Faisalabad:At least three persons were killed over a matrimonial dispute here on Friday.

Police said two groups fought in Muzaffar Colony area of the city over a matrimonial dispute. As a result, two men Aslam and Abdul Rehman died in firing, while a third man Maan Butt died in hospital during treatment.

Police shifted the bodied to hospital for autopsy and started raids to arrest the accused.

Rush of women witnessed at every Ehsaas Centre ignoring social distancing

LARKANA:Women beneficiaries of federal government’s Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program Centers of distribution of cash amounting to Rs 12000 per family complained of deduction by the centre staff between Rs 500 to 1000 per woman in Larkana. The affected women demanded refund of the amount and stern action against the relevant staff who is involved in corruption during COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. Worst mismanagement was witnessed at the Centres as the organizers failed to enforce social distancing ordered by the government to keep away women from each other so that they remain safe. They were forced to stand in a queue without any distance under hot weather without arrangement of cold water and other required facilities.

Women at Government Boys Degree College, Larkana, Centre including Hawa, Nasreen, Razia Khatoon, Zubeda and others complained that Centre staff has deducted Rs 500 to 1000 from each of our amount of Rs 12000 and they demanded to disburse cash through ATM machines and action against the defaulters. On the other hand, Habib Bank Manager Aamir Bhutto ordered closure of ATM machine near Lahori Tower due to increased rush of the women beneficiaries because of which hundreds of women felt extremely worried. They held protest and demanded opening of the machine. The Bank manager said that it was feared that COVID-19 will spread among the women as they gathered in large numbers without observing social distancing.

On the other hand, rush of poor women was also witnessed at three Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme Centers in Naundero also when they were opened to disburse cash of Rs 12,000 per deserving family among the verified poverty-stricken families. These Centres have been opened at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Government Primary School-1 in Naundero and Government High School in Garhi Khuda Bux. No proper security and social distancing arrangements were made on the occasion by the police which perhaps remained busy in enforcing lockdown and closure of markets before Juma prayers and women discarded the government instructions of social distancing as they all were only interested to get the money.

a citizen on the occasion said that such scenes are the norms throughout the country, because of Ehsaas funds disbursement program, the widely accepted effective measures for prevention of corona including social distancing and self isolation are being openly and blatantly flouted., A large number of ladies coming to receive the funds, remain unable to receive the funds because of the negligence of the Ehsaas program management.

He said that only purpose serving is cheap publicity and that the government might be seen doing at least something, much better way of disbursing these funds is through ATMs and the already established vendors of easy cash etc, a significant number of government resources including the manpower of police and other departments is also wasted at these counters, the same purpose could be achieved through banks and other means, he further murmured.

Indian quadcopter shot down at LoC

Rawalpindi:Pakistan army shoot down an Indian quadcopter on Thursday that violated the Pakistani airspace in Sankh Sector along the Line of Control (LoC). Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said: “In this provocative act, Indian quadcopter intruded 600 meters inside Pakistan’s territory for conducting surveillance.

“This blatant act was aggressively responded to by Pakistan Army troops shooting down Indian quadcopter. Such unwarranted acts by Indian Army are clear violation of established norms, existing Air Agreement between two countries and reflect Indian Army’s consistent disregard to Ceasefire Understanding of 2003,” the release said.

Missing Prof reaches home after nine months

LARKANA:Prof Ghulam Shabir Kalhoro, a resident of Shaikh Zayed Colony, who was missing since last nine months and eleven days, reached home safely in the wee hours of Thursday. Unknown men riding a car left him at Otha Chowk, Larkana, which is connected with Khairpur through Indus River Bridge.

His relatives and members of civil society had been constantly protesting for his release and recovery in Larkana and elsewhere and their just demand was accepted last night. His relatives and friends garlanded him in jubilation upon his arrival at home safe and sound. He had been whisked away second time after his release over nine months ago.

Mother of four children tries to commit suicide due to lockdown, poverty

NAUNDERO:A 35-year-old mother of four little children tried to commit suicide by taking a poisonous substance due to continuous lockdown and poverty in village Bharchoond near here on Thursday.

Dilshad Khatoon, wife of Lakhmeer Jakhro, tried to commit suicide by drinking poisonous chemical lying in her home as she could not see her little kids dying of hunger. She was immediately rushed to the local hospital for treatment.

Her brother Sadaruddin Jakhro told newsmen that husband of his sister was a labourer, a daily wager, and since 18 days of lockdown, he had become unemployed and could not earn livelihood to feed his poor family members.

He said local influential political people gave them ration for two to three days and since then, they were facing starvation and his sister could not see her children dying of hunger so she wanted to end her life so that she could not see her children facing worst hunger, he added.

Jakhro said Sindh government was constantly keeping poor poverty-stricken people on false claims of giving ration to them but had done practically nothing for those who voted for them and brought them to power.

Man crushed to death by tractor-trolley

SUKKUR:A man was crushed to death under the wheels of a tractor-trolley near Chakk town on Thursday.

Abdul Hameed was sitting on the tractor-trolly and all of a sudden, he fell down and was crushed under its wheels. Rescue team reached the spot and shifted the body to a local hospital for medico legal formalities.

The body was later handed over to the heirs. No case could be registered till filing this report. The incident created mourning atmosphere at the house in the victim’s native village Sarfu.

Five samples of suspected virus cases sent to Karachi

LARKANA:Five samples, including three of doctors, an influential person and the pregnant suspected woman of corona virus named Waheeda, who was operated last night at Shaikh Zayed Hospital, was taken on Thursday and sent to Karachi for analysis through collection point of a private hospital.

Since post-graduate doctors are not allegedly performing their government duties at the Chandka Medical College Hospital and Shaikh Zayed Women Hospital for fear of COVID-19 hence she was declared suspected by post-graduate student lady doctors on Wednesday who refused to operate her without provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). A patients admitted in CMCH Medical Unit-III refused to give swab for testing as well, credible sources said. Another doctor alleged that head of departments of three units of Paeds Medicine Department, popularly known Children Hospital, are also not discharging their duties after the outbreak of Corona Virus and all the indoor children including newborns are provided medical treatment by the CMCH doctors.

Meanwhile, lockdown was observed here on Thursday and large number of police were posted on all major roads and roundabouts. Towns and villages still continue to remain neglected as the residents in these areas have no fear of the virus despite massive awareness campaign by the government through media.

The residents come out of their homes mostly without face masks, three people riding a bike, purchase vegetables and groceries without observing social distancing. Police randomly visit bazaars and force the shopkeepers to close down their business to save precious lives and disperse people but poverty and unemployment are forcing them to do their trade secretly to earn livelihood not only for themselves but also for labour that work at their shops on daily wages basis.

Those shops remain opened day and at night which are located in various localities and Muhalla and they continue to violate lockdown orders. Worst affected are the children who have been confined to their homes since last 18 days without have seen outside world. They force their parents and uncles to take them out even just for a walk or to buy ice cream etc but they are forced to remain at home due to which they start crying loudly. Parents have been seen praying for end of the deadly virus and lockdown.

On the other hand, one of the doctors of Task Force for Corona Virus complained of insulting behaviour of the police when they are leaving their homes for performing their emergency government duties in the morning. The doctor sent SMS to this Scribe which was forwarded to SSP Masood Bangash and DIGP Irfan Ali Baloch. Both the police officers immediately took notice of the negligence on the part of policemen deployed at various roads and telephonically contacted the relevant doctor, inquired about the details from him and assured him of their full support. They also told him that such act of relevant cops will never by tolerated and those found involved will also be taken to task.
