Chairman Senate Calls for Renewed Adherence to Iqbal’s Philosophy for National Strength

Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has emphasised the critical need for Parliament and all state institutions to understand and implement the philosophy of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, advocating for a robust and stable Pakistan founded on national unity and cohesion. His remarks came during the observance of the 88th death anniversary of the revered Poet of the East.

In a special message commemorating the occasion, Chairman Gilani paid profound homage to Allama Iqbal, describing him as an extraordinary intellectual figure for the subcontinent”s Muslim population. He highlighted how Iqbal, through his profound poetry and philosophical insights, articulated the vision for an independent homeland, imbuing the people with a renewed sense of purpose.

The Senate Chairman affirmed that Allama Iqbal”s teachings remain a deep wellspring of guidance in contemporary times. He particularly noted Iqbal”s role in inspiring the youth with values such as self-esteem and relentless endeavour, principles he deemed fundamental to any thriving nation. Embracing this philosophy, Mr. Gilani suggested, empowers individuals to foster positive personal transformation and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Mr. Gilani further elaborated on Allama Iqbal’s vision for Pakistan, which he asserted was firmly rooted in the ideals of a welfare-centric and equitable society. In such a society, every citizen would enjoy parity of rights, and the supremacy of law would be universally upheld.

He reiterated that, in the present era, comprehending and applying Iqbal”s profound philosophy is crucial for establishing a resilient and enduring Pakistan. The Chairman stressed that Parliament, alongside all governmental bodies, carries the onus of discharging its duties guided by Iqbal”s principles. He underscored that national solidarity, coherence, and advancement necessitate a renewed commitment to Iqbal’s intellectual contributions.
