Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Yahya Afridi, on Friday administered the oath of office to the six newly-appointed Supreme Court (SC) judges.

The new judges include: former Balochistan High Court (BHC) chief justice Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar, ex-Sindh High Court (SHC) chief justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui, SHC senior puisne judge Salahuddin Panhwar, Peshawar High Court (PHC) judge Shakeel Ahmad, ex-Islamabad High Court (IHC) chief justice Aamer Farooq, and ex-PHC chief justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim.

The CJP also administered an oath to Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb, former Islamabad High Court judge, as an acting judge of the Supreme Court.

The oath taking ceremony held at the Supreme Court was attended by the judges of the Supreme Court, Islamabad High Court, Attorney General for Pakistan, senior lawyers, Law Officers and officers of Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan.

Muhammad Salim Khan, Registrar Supreme Court, conducted the proceedings of the oath taking ceremony. Officers and staff of the Supreme Court were also present on the occasion.
