In an effort to revitalize Port Qasim’s logistics framework, the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Maritime Reforms has today initiated a significant transformation aimed at strengthening freight and infrastructure systems to promote commercial activities.
This initiative includes the successful restoration of the railway link connected to Karachi Port, completed through collaboration between the National Logistics Corporation and Pakistan Railways. This development is expected to significantly improve the transportation of goods from ports to inland destinations.
In addition to the railway restoration, infrastructure improvements in the industrial area of Port Qasim have been accelerated. Measures to strengthen monitoring systems and implement third-party audits have been made more effective, ensuring the project’s transparency and performance.
Key elements of the reforms include the establishment of logistics parks, warehouses, and value-added services aimed at modernizing the port’s operational capacity, which will promote industrial development.
The expansion of Port Qasim’s maritime and industrial capabilities is expected to enhance import and export operations, further strengthening Pakistan’s trade and logistics network.
