Two individuals involved in the illegal sale of kites and hazardous chemical string have been arrested during an ongoing police operation across the district to curb the deadly practice of illegal kite flying, on the orders of DPO Okara Rashid Hidayat.

In the ongoing campaign launched on Wednesday under the direction of District Police Officer (DPO) Rashid Hidayat, police conducted successful raids in the areas of B-Division and Hujra Shah Muqeem.

During an operation within the limits of B-Division, a police team led by Station House Officer (SHO) Ghulam Rasool apprehended a suspect named Ali Haider. From his possession, 35 kites and four spools of the banned chemical-coated string were recovered.

A second raid was carried out by the Hujra Shah Muqeem police, where officers under the command of SHO Ali Raza Shah arrested a suspect named Riaz. Twenty kites were recovered from him during the operation.

Following the arrests, legal proceedings have been initiated against both individuals, with cases registered under the Kite Flying Act.

DPO Rashid Hidayat stated that such illegal activities pose a serious threat to human lives. He described the trade as a “heinous business” and assured that a strict and indiscriminate crackdown will continue against all elements involved.
