Crackdown against profiteering in Jhang during Ramadan, 49 shopkeepers arrested

Dozens of shopkeepers were arrested and two shops were sealed following a widespread crackdown on Wednesday by the district administration for price violations, while fines exceeding Rs 150,000 were also imposed in a single day.

These stringent measures are part of a broader mechanism to control prices, which is being strictly enforced to provide relief to consumers during the holy month of Ramadan. This strategy was reviewed in a key meeting of price control magistrates chaired by Deputy Commissioner Ali Akbar Bhindar.

During a briefing in the meeting, it was reported that authorities conducted over 2,500 inspections across the district yesterday, resulting in arrests and financial penalties for various violations.

To further facilitate consumers, special complaint cells have been established in major bazaars and markets for the prompt redressal of public grievances. Para-force is also engaged in continuous monitoring activities to ensure implementation.

The district administration has reiterated its commitment that operations against illegal profiteering and hoarding will continue indiscriminately throughout this period.
