Armed dacoits looted the Aga Khan Laboratory branch and a medical in Shikarpur, police said on Sunday.
According to the police report, the robbers reportedly made away with cash, mobile phones, and other valuables from the laboratory staff, even taking the CCTV recording device to erase any evidence of their crime.
In a similar, a gang of dacoits targeted a medical store, Anmol Medicos, located near the iconic Lakhi-Gate Clock Tower, opposite the General Post Office. The robbers looted cash, mobile phones, a laptop, and other valuables. The crime occurred in an area within walking distance of the Lakhi-Gate police station and the 15 Madadgar Police Unit, raising serious questions about the effectiveness of local law enforcement.
CCTV footage of the robbery at Anmol Medicos went viral on social media, spreading panic among residents and highlighting the increasing boldness of criminals operating in broad daylight in crowded areas.
Despite the availability of CCTV footage, no arrests or recoveries have been reported so far. Residents have expressed their frustration and fear, stating that criminals seem to operate with impunity in the district.
The worsening law and order situation in Shikarpur district has raised alarm as heinous crimes, including kidnappings for ransom, murders, robberies, and street crimes, continue to rise unchecked. The city’s residents and travelers alike are living in constant fear, with no visible respite in sight.
