DC Larkana dissatisfied during his surprise visit to RHC

NAUNDERO: We were hoping that Public-Private Partnership would give better results but the task given to Integrated Health Services IHS has yielded poor results.

This was stated by Larkana’s Deputy Commissioner DC, Tarique Manzoor Chandio, during his surprise visit to the Rural Health Centre Saturday after media complaints. The RHC is being managed by IHS.

DC reached here on the complaints made on social media that during night time the doors of RHC remain closed with acute shortage medicines, poor service and sanctioned staff. DC visited various wards and medical store of the RHC accompanied by the Medical Superintendent MS Dr. Muhammad Sharif Pirzado. During his visit the store keeper told him that all medicines are available, to which he expressed his anger and replied that when all drugs are available then why these are not being given to the patients.

DC also asked him to show the computerised record of the medicines which was not available. He directed the store keeper to immediately computerise all medicine records or he will be taken to task.

When Chandio visited COVID-19 ward he found it without a ceiling fan and asked the staff who would like to be admitted here in this hot weather. To check the functioning of the ECG machine the DC asked the paramedic on duty to get his ECG which was carried out.

Later while talking to the media, DC Tariq Chandio said that government hospitals were handed over to IHS with the sole hope that it will provide better medical healthcare facilities than government sector hospitals but they have miserably failed in the task. He said wherever he has gone to check their working he has received similar complaints of shortage of staff, unavailability of required drugs and poor performance. He said he had written to the health secretary previously about these basic issues, IHS performance and will repeat it again so that poor ailing people should not suffer for negligence of others. He said he has instructed the MS to ensure availability of all requisite healthcare facilities so that people would be able to take benefit from the taxpayer’s hard earned money.
