Diplomacy – Pakistan and China Poised to Ink New MoU to Deepen Agricultural and Cultural Cooperation

First Lady of Pakistan, Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, has been formally invited to China to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing collaboration in agriculture and cultural exchanges, a development that comes as the two nations prepare to celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations. The invitation was extended during a high-level meeting at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday.

The proposal was presented by Ms. Hao, President of the China-Asia-Africa Trade Promotion Office, during her official call on the First Lady. The meeting focused on strengthening the enduring partnership between the two allied countries.

During the discussion, Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari emphasized that Pakistan, as an agriculture-based economy, stands to gain significantly from China”s advanced agricultural technologies and expertise. She noted that national efforts are already in progress to implement efficient irrigation methods and curtail water wastage in the farming sector.

The First Lady also commended China”s position as a global leader in renewable energy investments and conveyed Pakistan’s keen interest in expanding cultural, tourism, and educational exchanges to foster greater people-to-people connections.

Ms. Hao highlighted that the upcoming 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties next year presents a timely opportunity to further deepen cooperation. She specified that this enhanced partnership could focus on student and cultural exchange programs, as well as providing valuable vocational training for Pakistani farmers.

The meeting was also attended by Senator Sherry Rehman and Senator Saleem Mandviwalla.
