Pakistan has secured a position on the prestigious UN Human Rights Council, garnering an overwhelming majority of votes in a move its top diplomat has hailed as a significant international endorsement of the nation’s commitment to the global human rights agenda.

According to official information today, the country’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, confirmed the successful election in a statement on the social media platform X. He framed the victory as a clear affirmation from the global community regarding Pakistan”s contributions to promoting and protecting fundamental freedoms.

In his post, Ahmad articulated that the substantial support received reflects the international community”s validation of Pakistan”s role and efforts in the field of human rights.

Looking ahead, the ambassador pledged that Pakistan would approach its forthcoming term on the council with a fresh sense of purpose. He asserted that the nation is committed to championing the Human Rights Council”s mandate comprehensively and with a “renewed resolve.”
