UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appealed for an end to the escalating crises in Gaza, Sudan, and Ukraine, highlighting the dire humanitarian situations during his address at the UN General Assembly”s opening session in New York. He emphasized the urgent need for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, increased humanitarian assistance to the region, and the release of all hostages amid escalating fatalities and widespread hunger among Palestinians.
Guterres also addressed other global conflicts, pushing for a sustained ceasefire and a peaceful resolution in Ukraine.
Beyond these immediate crises, the Secretary-General stressed the necessity of reforms within the international financial system. He advocated for increased involvement of developing nations in both the structure and decision-making processes of global finance.
