The contentious issue of India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty has been formally raised in the United Kingdom”s House of Lords, a development that was conveyed to Acting President of Pakistan, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, during a high-level meeting on Friday.

Lord Shafaq Mohammad of Tinsley, a prominent member of the UK”s upper house of Parliament, shared this significant diplomatic update during his discussion with the Acting President at Aiwan-e-Sadr. He was accompanied by former Member of the European Parliament Barrister Tanveer Hussain and Chaudhary Mehboob Hussain.

The deliberations also encompassed a range of other critical subjects, including the welfare of the Pakistani community residing in the United Kingdom and the prevailing circumstances in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Furthermore, the ongoing relief and rehabilitation operations in the flood-affected regions of AJK were a key point of conversation, bringing attention to the immediate humanitarian concerns in the territory.

In his remarks, Acting President Gilani commended the delegation for their proactive efforts in bringing matters of national importance to international forums. He lauded their unwavering support for the Pakistani diaspora abroad.
