The US dollar continued to command a higher price in the open market compared to the interbank rate on Thursday, highlighting a persistent gap between the two segments, according to figures released by the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (ECAP).
In the open market, the American currency was quoted at Rs 281.30 for buying and Rs 281.70 for selling. In contrast, the interbank market recorded the greenback trading at Rs 280.65 and Rs 280.85 for buying and selling, respectively.
The British Pound Sterling remained the most expensive foreign currency, with its buying and selling rates posted at Rs 366.75 and Rs 370.45. The Euro was valued at Rs 323.64 for buying and Rs 326.63 for selling.
Among key Middle Eastern currencies, the UAE Dirham was available at Rs 76.61 for buying and Rs 77.38 for selling. The Saudi Riyal was recorded at Rs 74.90 on the buying counter and Rs 75.52 on the selling counter.
The Japanese Yen was priced at Rs 1.77 for buying and Rs 1.83 for selling in the local currency market.
