Enraged tribal people block Airport road

QUETTA: Enraged tribal people of Nawa Killi and Sraghurgae blocked Airport road near Askari Pump area on Friday, demanding arrest of land mafia involved in the killing of Suhbat Khan Kakar.

According to detail, tribal people of Kakar tribe staged a sit-in on Airport road near Askari Pump area of Quetta against the killing of Suhbat Khan Kakar. Chanting slogans against land mafia, provincial government and district administration, protesters demanded early arrest of perpetrators involved in the killing of Suhbat Khan Kakar.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Malik Kakar, President, Balochistan Civil Secretariat Officers Welfare Association, Abdul Khaliq Kakar, Professor Muhammad Hanif Bazai and others said that land mafia had been busy in encroaching upon the land of native tribes of Nawa Killi, Sraghurgae and its adjoining areas for the last many years, but authorities had turned a deaf ear and did not take any action against land grabbers and their abettors.

They demanded of the authorities to apprehend perpetrators involved in the killing of Suhbat Khan Kakar. Opposition leader in Balochistan Provincial Assembly, Malik Sikandar Khan Advocate, Provincial Secretary, Pushtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Abdul Raheem Ziaratwal, Azizullah Bazai, Malik Abdul Rasheed Kakar, Haji Abdul Baqi Kakar and others visited the sit-in site to express solidarity with protesters. It is pertinent to mention that Suhbat Khan Kakar was killed and several others injured in an armed clash between two groups in Nawa Killi area of the provincial capital the previous day over land dispute.
