Expression of Solidarity with the Kashmiri People

Islamabad, August 30, 2019 (PPI-OT): A solemn ceremony was held in Pakistan Embassy Dushanbe, Tajikistan to express solidarity with the people of the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir, says a press release received from Dushanbe here today. The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran followed by National Anthem of Pakistan and anthem of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Community members from all walks of life including Embassy officials participated in the event.

Ambassador Imran Haider addressed the attendees highlighting the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and the atrocities being perpetrated by the Indian occupying forces. He highlighted the illegal and unilateral actions of the Indian Government to change the demography in the disputed territory. He added that such steps of India were in contravention of the UNSC Resolutions and breach of Shimla Agreement. The 26 days long curfew in IoK has put millions of Kashmiris in largest prison in the world. There is complete media blackout and Kashmiri people are in a state of imprisonment and siege.

Despite these draconian steps, all Indian attempts to alter Jammu and Kashmir dispute, subjugate Kashmiri people and declare Kashmir dispute as “internal matter” have miserably failed. The Jammu and Kashmir dispute after decades came under discussion in the UNSC. He further said that Kashmiri voices in IoK could not be stifled or buried. In the end, a special documentary on the plight of the Kashmiris in IoK was played for the audience.
