Federal Minister Champions Urban Agriculture Revitalization Effort

Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain has revealed that the government is considering planning practical initiatives designed to boost agriculture and environmental quality.

Federal Minister while presiding over a pivotal meeting focused on urban agriculture in Islamabad, stressed the importance of kitchen gardening as a means to environmental enhancement and self-reliance at the household level, urging the revival of this waning tradition.

The meeting commenced with an in-depth briefing on kitchen gardening and urban agriculture by Nadeem Iqbal. The federal minister revealed that the government is studying successful urban agriculture models from countries such as Kenya, Brazil, and Cuba to create localized solutions.

A collaborative model project with the National Agricultural Research Centre and the Capital Development Authority is in progress, the federal minister added.

This initiative aims to provide citizens with access to affordable, fresh produce while promoting environmental awareness and contributing to a greener urban landscape.
