The Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, significantly enhanced the quality of services at Quetta Railway Station during his visit on Thursday, introducing heightened security measures and new passenger amenities.
During his comprehensive station tour, Minister Abbasi met with passengers on the Jaffar Express, a key route connecting Quetta to Peshawar. His direct interaction aimed to understand passengers’ experiences firsthand and identify potential areas for improvement in railway services.
Accompanied by Senator Ahmad Khan Khilji, Abbasi received a detailed briefing on operational challenges and ongoing activities at the station from Imran Hayat Khan, the Divisional Superintendent of Quetta Division. In a significant development, the minister inaugurated a modern control room equipped with 29 new CCTV cameras, enhancing security and smoothing operations.
Further improvements included the inauguration of a new gym at the Railway Officers Club, demonstrating a commitment to improving staff welfare and health. In a move, Abbasi announced the opening of the business class waiting lounge to all passengers, thus enhancing comfort for a broader audience.
The visit also highlighted the efforts of the local railway team led by DS Railway Imran Hayat Khan, who maintained high operational standards. In a poignant acknowledgment, the minister presented a compensation check of 5 million rupees to the family of Constable Faisal, who was recently killed in a terrorist attack.
These developments at Quetta Railway Station represent a strong step forward in Pakistan Railways’ mission to ensure safe, efficient, and comfortable travel.
