Five fishermen drowned when their boat capsized in the sea near the coastal area of Keti Bandar on Wednesday.
According to a PPI report, the fishermen hailing from Taluka Ghora Bari of district Thatta were fishing in the sea when their boat was hit by strong winds. As a result, the boat sank and five fishermen drowned in the deep sea water.
Fishermen from another nearby boat rushed to the scene after hue and cry and retrieved the body of one fisherman, identified as Anees Parheri. They also recovered another fisherman, Mushtaq Parheri, in unconscious condition from the sea and shifted him to a local hospital. The search for the missing fishermen, Majeed Khaskheli and Manzoor Khaskheli and one other was underway.
The fishing boat was owned by Mohammad Parheri, a resident of village Misri Khan Parheri in Taluka Ghora Bari.
Victim families have called on the authorities to assist in the search for the recovery of missing fishermen. A mourning atmosphere prevailed among the victim family members.
