Gold prices edged higher in both international and Pakistan markets on Thursday, tracking gains in global bullion trade, while silver registered losses across Pakistan’s local markets.
The international spot bullion market saw gold advance by $4 per ounce, taking the price to $4,030, dealers said.
Reflecting the upward movement overseas, the price of gold in Pakistan’s local bullion market increased by Rs400 per tola to Rs425,436.
Meanwhile, the price of 10 grams of gold rose by Rs343, settling at Rs364,742, according to market data.
Silver, however, moved in the opposite direction. The price of silver per tola declined by Rs134 to Rs6,155 in the domestic market, while the rate for 10 grams fell by Rs115 to Rs5,276.
Bullion traders attributed the rise in gold prices to continued strength in international markets, even as silver remained under pressure in local trading.
