Government Reaches Amicable Accord With AJK Action Committee, Defusing Tensions

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed on Wednesday that the government has successfully resolved all outstanding matters with the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Joint Action Committee, bringing a peaceful conclusion to a period of contention through constructive dialogue.

The premier’s remarks came during a high-level session with the government’s negotiation committee after it concluded successful talks in AJK. The gathering included prominent figures such as former National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, PM’s adviser Rana Sanaullah, and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.

During the briefing, the negotiation team detailed the specifics of the agreement reached with the action committee. Prime Minister Shehbaz commended the team for its efforts, lauding their prudence and responsibility in handling the sensitive negotiations.

Sharif also praised the Joint Action Committee for its cooperative stance, describing its approach as ‘highly commendable’ in working towards the progress and prosperity of the region.

‘All matters in Azad Kashmir have been settled amicably. The government will continue to remove the legitimate concerns of the Kashmiri people,’ the Prime Minister stated, reinforcing that public welfare and tranquility are his administration’s foremost priorities.

He reiterated that the government has always acted as a guardian of the rights of its “Kashmiri brothers and sisters” and will persist in protecting and promoting their interests. “We have consistently prioritized the issues of Azad Kashmir and will keep working for the region’s development and prosperity in line with the aspirations of its people,’ he affirmed.
