Governor Sindh meets Railway Minister, $2 billion plan for railway line upgradation in Sindh

Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi has announced a landmark $2 billion investment to upgrade the 480-kilometer-long railway line from Karachi to Rohri, aimed at significantly enhancing the speed, safety, and capacity of rail services in the province.

The announcement came after a high-level meeting today between the minister and Governor of Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori at the Governor House. Their discussion covered the country’s political and economic situation, current and future railway projects in Sindh, and broader matters of public welfare and regional development.

Both officials agreed on the need to modernise and secure the railway infrastructure throughout Sindh province. Minister Hanif Abbasi gave the governor a comprehensive briefing on recent reforms and future initiatives being undertaken by Pakistan Railways.

Mr. Abbasi stated that the railway development projects would be a significant milestone for the country’s economy and the strengthening of national infrastructure.

During his visit, the federal minister also addressed Information Technology students studying under an initiative at the Governor House. He praised Governor Tessori, saying, “We had heard a lot about universities being established in Governor Houses, but God has bestowed this honour upon Kamran Khan Tessori, who has turned this dream into a reality.”

The minister described the governor’s commitment to public service as an exemplary model for other officials. He suggested that if such dedication and practical thinking were widely adopted, Pakistan could achieve rapid national progress, and he expressed a desire to launch similar projects in his own constituency.

In response, Governor Tessori assured his full support for all projects related to public welfare, education, and employment. He affirmed that the Governor House is open to the public, with a primary focus on providing educational opportunities, skills training, and essential facilities.

Following the meeting, both dignitaries toured several public service facilities on the Governor House premises, including the “Bell of Hope,” a complaint cell, and a ration market, to assess the amenities available to citizens.

Minister Hanif Abbasi concluded his visit with a tour of the historic office of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah located in the building. He described the site as a national asset and stressed the importance of its preservation.
