Govt colleges to have third shift across Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab Higher Education Department Monday decided to start a third shift in the government colleges to accommodate the rising number of admissions. It is learnt that there will be a third shift after 4pm in the government colleges.

According to DPI Colleges Dr Ashiq Hussain, the number of shifts has been increased in the single-shift government colleges too across the province including Lahore. “The purpose of increasing shifts is to provide educational facilities to more students,” the DPI Colleges said.

“With the third shift, the target of admissions into colleges has also been increased from 1.1 million to 1.5 million,” he added. “This academic year, more than 1.1 million students were admitted to the colleges. For the next academic year, the target of admissions to the government colleges has been increased to 1.5 million,” he stated.
