ISLAMABAD: The government is committed to revive the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme and put Pakistan back on a sustainable growth path.
The assurance was given by Finance Minister Miftah Ismail during talks held between Pakistan’s team with the IMF Mission at Doha. The week-long consultations reviewed fiscal and monetary situation for the fiscal year 2022 and proposed measures for the next financial year.
The meetings identified areas of divergence and corrections required in the current account and fiscal deficit. It was further assured in the meeting that the government is committed to reduce the overall budget deficit in the next fiscal year.
