Govt Upholds Old Net Metering Rules for Over 5,000 Applicants

Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari today resolved the uncertainty surrounding recent net metering submissions, directing that all applications filed by the 8th of this month must be processed under the former regulations.

This instruction, aimed at clearing any ambiguities for current applicants, applies nationwide to all electricity distribution companies, including K-Electric.

A total of 5,165 requests were lodged with various power distribution entities by the February 8 cut-off date. These pending applications are projected to contribute a significant 250.822 MW of capacity to the national grid once approved.

The Minister emphasised that transparency must be maintained throughout the processing of these submissions.

It was also stated that electricity consumers who encounter issues may register a complaint by dialling the 118 helpline.
