In a significant stride towards stabilizing the national economy, the Government’s anti-electricity theft campaign has reclaimed over Rs152.54 billion since its inception on September 1, 2023.

This initiative is part of broader efforts to mitigate the prevailing power crisis, it was reported today.

During the past week alone, authorities managed to recover more than Rs 28 million. They have registered 1,507 cases and detained 97 individuals involved in electricity theft. The campaign has seen a total of 314,814 cases filed and 116,585 suspects apprehended nationwide.

Officials underscore their unwavering commitment to persist with the campaign until the complete eradication of electricity theft. They highlight that rigorous measures will continue to protect national resources, thereby enhancing economic stability and ensuring a more stable power sector.
