Heavy rains may generate floods in Karachi, Hyderabad, and other Sindh areas

KARACHI: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Monday that heavy rains may generate urban flooding in Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu and Sukkur on 23rd and 24th August.

According to the PMD report, flash flooding is expected in Qilla Saifullah, Loralai, Barkhan, Kohlu, Mosa Khel, Sherani, Sibbi, Bolan, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbella and hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan on 24th August. Travelers and tourists are advised to remain cautious during the forecast period.

Monsoon currents are penetrating in upper parts of the country and likely to intensify in central and southern parts from Tuesday. A westerly wave is also affecting western and upper parts of the country.

On Tuesday, rain-wind/thundershower is expected in northeast Balochistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper/south Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. Scattered heavy falls are also likely in northeast Balochistan, Sindh and south Punjab during the period.
