Highway Blocked in Protest Over Alleged Enforced Disappearance in Mastung

Quetta-Karachi highway was brought to a standstill by demonstrators on Tuesday near Nawab Hotel area of Mastung. The protest, organized against the alleged enforced disappearance of Mir Zahoor Ahmed Sumalani, resulted in long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road.

According to a PPI report, the protest was led by Nawab Mir Ahmed Chaltunwal Sumalani, the central Chairman of Sumalani Quomi Tehreek. Sumalani and his supporters staged a sit-in on the highway, demanding the safe recovery of Mir Zahoor.

He emphasized that the blockade would persist until their demands were met. The highway remained obstructed for all kinds of traffic at the time of filing this report.

In a separate incident in Duki, armed tribesmen continued their pursuit on Tuesday to recover abducted tribal elder Hafiz Allah Dad Luni. The elder, who is also a member of the Municipal Committee, was kidnapped by unidentified armed men from Yaru Shahr area the previous day. In response, a group led by Sardar Khusdal Khan Luni and other tribal leaders launched an operation in the Jhalar mountainous terrain.

During the search, the vehicle belonging to Hafiz Allah Dad Luni was recovered, although the search for the elder continued.
