Aafia Movement leader Dr Fowzia Siddiqui today sharply condemned the interception of a Gaza-bound humanitarian flotilla by Israeli occupation forces, questioning the inaction of the United Nations and other international human rights bodies in the face of the crisis.

In a statement, the noted neurophysician described the halting of the aid vessel, which was carrying food and medicine for distressed citizens, as a test for the conscience of humanity. “Arresting and stopping them is a heinous display of inhumanity and cowardice,” she remarked.

Dr. Siddiqui directed pointed questions at global institutions, asking, “Where is the United Nations, supposed to uphold human rights and dignity? Where are the Nobel Peace Prize winners, who claim to champion peace and justice?”

The activist urged the global community to vocalize its opposition to what she termed a “blatant disregard for human life and dignity.” She stressed that people must demand action from their leaders and international organizations to safeguard those who risk their lives to deliver aid.

“The time for silence is over; the time for action is now,” Dr. Siddiqui declared. She called for a united front to “defend the defenders of humanity and ensure that their courageous efforts are not met with cruelty and injustice.”

The statement specifically demanded that governments and global bodies guarantee the protection and safety of humanitarian workers. It called for an immediate end to the arrest and detention of aid personnel.

Concluding with a powerful appeal, Dr. Siddiqui urged support for organizations that provide humanitarian assistance and advocate for human rights, stating, “History is being written. Will we stand up for humanity?”
