Humanitarian Aid – Gaza Aid Costs Soar as Basic Meal Price Exceeds Eight Times That for Sudanese Refugees

The cost of providing a single basic meal in Gaza has climbed to over £4, a figure more than eight times the amount required to feed a Sudanese refugee in Chad, according to the humanitarian organization Muntada Aid. The group highlights that procuring essential supplies in the region is an extremely cumbersome, dangerous, and expensive undertaking.

Amid these challenging conditions, the organization is engaged in daily emergency distributions. Current efforts include supplying freshly made bread to 1,500 people as part of a wider relief program.

In addition to the bread initiative, Muntada Aid is furnishing clean drinking water to over 4,100 people and serving 500 hot meals every day.

The aid group reports that its long-term efforts since October 2023 have assisted more than 172,000 people with critical food, water, and medical support. The organization states that continued donations are needed to sustain its appeal and ongoing operations in Gaza.
