IGP for intensifying action against criminals involved in social evils

KARACHI:Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar has ordered top police officials to intensify action against criminals involved in drug peddling, gambling, street crimes and other social evils.

This he ordered while reviewing in detail the overall law and order situation in the South Zone during a meeting at CPO Karachi. The meeting discussed and reviewed various aspects and angles about the investigation into the cases of missing persons, including children. The IGP Sindh was briefed about all the issues and performance of the women police stations, including the complaint centers and the steps taken by the PM / CM portal to provide assistance to the victims.

The IGP Sindh directed that the pending references of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Sindh High Court and other courts be reviewed and further necessary steps be taken to fulfill requirements in this regard.

The IGP Sindh said that the police strategy and action plan should be made more concrete and effective against the absconders and proclaimed offenders He said that the police action against elements involved in drug, gambling and other social evils, including street crimes, should be intensified while elimination of encroachments from main roads and highways should be ensured through coordination with the relevant agencies.

He said that timely and effective legal action against provocative and hate speeches should also be taken and the names of elements involved in this menace be included in the Fourth Schedule List. The meeting was attended by Additional IG Karachi, DIG Headquarters Sindh, DIG South, DIG Finance, DIG Admin CPO, AIG Operations and other top officials.
