ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday discharged the contempt of court notice against former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
A larger bench headed by IHC Cheif Justice Athar Minallah and comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, and Justice Babar Sattar, heard the case and discharged the contempt notice in a unanimous decision.
Imran Khan was facing contempt charges for his controversial remarks against an Additional Sessions Judge/Judicial Magistrate of the federal capital Zeba Chaudhry during a rally in Islamabad on August 20. When the hearing commenced on Monday, Chief Justice Athar Minallah said the bench had examined the affidavit submitted by Imran Khan in the contempt case.
He noted that Imran Khan demonstrated honesty and went to apologize to the Additional Sessions Judge, thus the bench unanimously decided to discharge the contempt notice. The Chief Justice Athar Minallah also noted that the court is also ‘satisfied’ with the conduct of Imran Khan.
